The following report summarizes recent Pediatric Section business. Business meeting minutes are posted on the section's Web site.
Bylaws
During the business meeting on Wednesday, May 5, the section will vote on the following proposed change to the bylaws: the inclusion of an additional objective. The Executive Council recommends this change to the membership.
Article I, Section 2: Objectives
e) Improving the care of children and adults with surgically relevant congenital disorders of the nervous system by providing a forum for the identification and education of neurosurgeons who commit to their care.
Future Meeting Sites
Austin, Texas, is the site for the 2011 annual winter meeting of the Pediatric Section.
The section's chair-elect coordinates the selection of the future section winter meeting sites. Anyone proposing to host a meeting should communicate that request to the chair-elect (currently Alan Cohen, MD). The Executive Council will consider the submitted requests. All requests will be considered for two years. The sponsor for any proposed site who is not selected during that time will be asked to communicate interest in having the site considered for an additional two years.
The Franc Ingraham Award
The Pediatric Section's highest honor for both distinguished service and achievement has only been awarded five times. Please see the section in this newsletter about Dr. Dave McLone, the most recipient of this award.
Anyone wishing to nominate a member for this award should submit his or her nomination to the section’s immediate past chair (currently Jeff Wisoff, MD).
