    Membership Committee Report

    New members proposed for election at the 2007 Winter Business Meeting in Miami, Fla., were Daniel Guillaume, MD, and David Shafron, MD. Both were approved by the Executive Council and by the membership at the Pediatric Section business meeting.

    The following five candidates are proposed for Active membership in the Pediatric Section and their candidacy will be voted upon at the business meeting in April.

    Rules and Regulations Committee Report

    Two changes are proposed to the Pediatric Section’s Rules and Regulations. The proposed changes are (1) creation of a resident member category and (2) an alteration of the procedure for applying for both Active and International membership.

    The proposal was written based on discussion at the section’s most recent Executive Committee Meeting. The Rules and Regulations Committee circulates this document for additional discussion before consideration for approval by the Executive Committee.

    Resident Member. Resident membership shall be limited to members in good standing in an accredited North American neurosurgical training program. The candidate must be a resident member of either the AANS or the CNS.

    Section 3.    Procedure for Application for Membership

    A candidate for membership shall apply in writing to the Joint Section and submit the names of two references that are active members or active (Foreign) members of the Joint Section. A candidate for international membership shall apply in writing to the Joint Section and submit the names of three references, at least one of whom shall be an AANS Active, Active (Foreign) or International Member from the applicant's country, or an individual of international stature in that country or geographical region. The proposal shall be submitted to the membership committee at least 30 days prior to the meeting of the Executive Council, and must be accompanied by a curriculum vitae written in English.
