Jeffrey A. Golden to Deliver Matson Lecture
Dr. Golden is the pathologist-in-chief and chair of pathology and laboratory Medicine at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He is professor of pathology and laboratory medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and he holds the Evelyn Willing Bromley Endowed Chair of Pediatric Pathology. Dr. Golden received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry at the University of California, San Diego, and his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed an internship at University of California, Los Angeles, a residency in anatomic pathology at the Massachusetts General Hospital, and a fellowship in neuropathology, also at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Golden's laboratory uses in vitro and in vivo models to understand the molecular and cellular basis of developmental disorders that affect the central nervous system, with particular focus on the role of cell migration and cell differentiation in the pathogenesis of cognitive disorders, epilepsy, brain malformations, and autism spectrum disorder. He has published numerous scientific papers and monographs on these topics as well as other aspects of pediatric neuropathology, including brain tumors, trauma, epilepsy, and congenital and acquired disorders of interest to pediatric neurosurgeons. He has collaborated extensively with pediatric neurosurgeons, neurologists, child development specialists and basic scientists to advance the understanding of disorders that affect the nervous system of pediatric patients. |
