Winter Meeting 2008 Jeffrey H. Wisoff, MD, and David P. Gruber, MD, MBA The city of Spokane and the surrounding inland northwest region comprise the magnificent setting for the 2008 Annual Meeting of the AANS/CNS Pediatric Section. The Davenport Hotel, one of the oldest 5-star hotels in the western United States and host to every U.S. president since Teddy Roosevelt, is the site for this year’s annual meeting. The prepared scientific venue contains both a rich and varied palette of strong presentations that will appeal to clinical and basic science interests. A diverse poster program and a pre-meeting nursing seminar will accompany the oral presentations. Renee R. Jenkins, MD, the president of the American Academy of Pediatrics, will address participants as this year's Raimondi speaker. The Davenport Hotel is within walking distance of many fine local restaurants and entertainment locales. Both the opening reception and the wine and cheese reception will be complemented with performance by members of the Spokane Symphony and offerings from local vintners including Pepper Bridge Vineyard (Walla Walla) and the Robert Karl Vineyard (Spokane). For those with a passion for the outdoors, the meeting will close with a snowshoe tour to the summit of Mt. Spokane—a location from which and on a clear day, an individual can look across northern Idaho and the nearby mountains into Montana and southern British Columbia. The setting has been prepared for a superb meeting. Please join us in Spokane—Dec. 2 through Dec. 5. We look forward to seeing you there. Sincerely,
